Imagine.  Did you stop to imagine something or did you read onward without an interest to actually imagine something?  What fascinates me is we desire the freedom to simply be.  But when given the opportunity to simply be, sometimes we subconsciously dismiss the opportunity or wonder if there is a catch.

My name is Saltia Biscette.  Feel free to call me Sal.  I was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.  I am Saltia first.  In God’s timing, I became a pianist, a wife to O’Neil, a mother to Rose and Gabe, and an author.  Upon marriage, I moved to New York City where my husband and I began our life journey together before we moved to Michigan.  I currently live in Michigan with O’Neil, Rose, and Gabe.  My journey toward and throughout marriage and motherhood is certainly one for the books.  However, a great story does not cut to the chase.  To appreciate a story is to welcome the details.  Perhaps to appreciate my writings to you will require getting to know me chapter by chapter.

Imagine a young girl at the age of 3 playing a lovely melody on a small wooden piano.  As the ivories casually dance, the abstract sounds of her musical expressions begin to transform into a recognizable song.  Although relatively simple, her ability to transform random notes into a previously composed song known to many is impressive, right?  Well, that girl was my younger me.

I am a pianist, created by God with the gift of playing the piano by ear.  My imagination influences my music and writing.  In addition to my personal relationship with God, I allow my imaginations expressed through every stroke of a key to help me process the many seasons in my life.  For it is therapy to me.  I plan to use blogging as a tool of expression, connection, and perhaps healing for you and for me.

Oftentimes, we prioritize our lifestyles, forgetting to assess our mental health.  Imagination gives us this HUGE platform to paint, to walk, to feel.  This platform grants us the “walk in the park”.    The “sunshine and rainbows”.  In addition to prayer and supplication, perhaps choosing to simply exist in our imaginations will also offer us the ability to maintain and stabilize our emotions.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you through stories and imagination.  I welcome you to also share your journey with me.  As you read my blogs and take moments to exist in your reflections, prayerfully you will begin to feel less stressed.  Less discouraged.  Less of all things counterproductive to living as your best you.  Let us begin to prioritize our mental health through the freedom to simply be.  First, imagine anything.  Now let’s GO!

Love,

Sal B.
